    Massage Therapy - Q&A

People who have not had a massage usually have a lot of questions. We would like to take this opportunity to answer a few of the most commonly asked questions:

    Q. Who performs the massage at the clinic?
    A. Student Massage Therapists currently enrolled in one of our Professional Massage Therapy Training Programs will be giving massages. All students have been trained in Swedish Massage and have gone through Ethics I, II, & III. After your massage, you may be asked to fill out a Student Evaluation Form, to better the students in their learning process. A person Certified in Massage Therapy may also give the massage. Certification means that the person has completed a massage therapy training program that has prepared them to give massage by taking classes in Anatomy, Pathology, Swedish and Deep Tissue massage, as well as other coursework.
    Q. What kind of massage will I receive?
    A. After you have completed a health history questionnaire, the massage therapist spends some time asking you what you need to have treated. You have a choice of receiving a Swedish Massage which is a lighter massage used to relax you and increase circulation. You may also choose to have a Deep Tissue massage which is deeper muscle massage to relieve muscle tension and cramping.

    Q. What type of clothing should I wear?
    A. The Massage Therapist will leave the room so that you can get ready on the massage table. Unclothed massage is customary but we encourage people to undress to their level of comfort. You will always be under a sheet as to ensure comfort and modesty.
