Grievance, Leave, Withdrawal & Services

Use of Massage Tables
Massage tables and equipment are not to leave school campus. Students are welcome to use massage rooms in the Massage Clinic during school business hours only. Students may sign up for available rooms with the Massage Clinic Director. Please sign up for rooms on designated dates and times and not when Student Clinic is in session. Students must bring own sheets and lotion/oil for homework use in Massage Clinic.

Grievance and Incidence Policy
Any student, staff, faculty or client can file a grievance and/or incident report. All grievances and incidence forms can be obtained from the front desk or the Massage Clinic Director desk.

Procedure: All forms must be given to the Director for review.
The Director has two days to notify all parties of the receipt of the paperwork. The director has five business days to gather, address and respond to grievances and incidences. Final decision will come directly from the Director. It is the responsibility of MSM to respond to all grievances and incidents that are reported. Mediation for resolution may be sought from the company attorney and/or Human Resources Mediator. MSM will file in official records all grievances, incidents reports, decisions and course of action related. If parties involved do not agree with the decision from the school, it is the party’s right to take action as they see fit from local authorities or certification boards.

Student Leave Of Absence
A leave of absence may be granted for personal, academic or attendance reasons. The student has 180 days to return to restart the program (from the last date of attendance) to complete the course. A leave of absence may be granted more than once.

Student Withdrawal Policy
Students may withdraw or be dismissed from the program in the following ways.

Voluntary withdrawal: Student elects to withdraw. Credits for course will be granted. The student has 180 days to return and finish the program to get credit for any classes that were not completed. Failure to return from Leave of Absence: If a student takes a leave of absence and does not return with in 180 days. Prolonged absence: the student fails to attend classes for 20 consecutive days.

Academic/Absences: If a student is failing a subject or has missed class time that must be made up to maintain 90% attendance in the class, the student is not terminated. The student has the option of restarting the class; obtaining a tutor for the class or contracting one on one instruction with a Teacher to make up educational hours and grades.

The student must have an exit interview with the School Director if voluntarily withdrawing.

Final grades and transcripts will be furnished within 30 days of exit interview with the School Director.

Student Termination For Academic Insufficiency
If a student is exceeding the maximum reasonable time allowed for course completion, stated in Course Completion page, and is failing or not meeting the 90% attendance requirement, the student may be
terminated for academic insufficiency. This means that the student had marked requirements in either attendance or grade make up to successfully complete the course and has failed to complete the requirements for graduation.

 

 

 

Student Dismissal Policy
Termination may occur for violation of classroom standards and student conduct.

If a student is found in violation of any one of the classroom standards and student conduct rules and either a verbal or written complaint has been made, the following proceeding may occur:

Formal incident report is filed and given to the director. The incident is addressed in a timely manner according to the school’s grievance and incident policy. A written notice of incident and disciplinary warning is given to the student. A probation period is automatically applied and lasts the duration of the student’s enrollment. If another incident is filed against a student in the probation period, an automatic suspension or immediate dismissal can be applied to the student depending on the nature of the offense. All disciplinary actions, as result of an incident filed, are shared with MSM company attorney and entered into students’ and MSM files.

Stress Management
Going to massage school can be stressful. Students often ask themselves, “How do I do this and work at the same time or spend time with my family?” Coming up with a schedule for study time, family time and me-time is very important. If life feels stressful and you are having difficulty with finding time to fit everything in, please see the Education Director or the School Director for help.

Student Services
The school provides a contact list for housing, bus schedules, childcare, academic tutors and healthcare providers. Academic advising by the Education Director is also provided. All contact lists may be obtained from the Education Director and the Director.

Student Job Placement
The Education Director provides student services assistance. Job placement is provided for all students and graduates. Current listings of jobs are kept on file and will be furnished upon request. Current job listings are published each fall, winter and spring and sent to students
and graduates.

MSM does not in any way guarantee job placement

Lost or Stolen Property
MSM is not responsible for lost or stolen property. If an item is lost or presumed stolen a report should be turned into the Director.
